Arise News goes live on Freeview
Global news and entertainment channel Arise News has launched on the Freeview platform in the UK.
The network will be available in standard definition on Freeview channel 136 and will be available to all Freeview viewers in the broadcast coverage area of Arqiva’s new HD multiplex.
This covers roughly 72% of the UK population, provided they are watching a Freeview HD compatible iDTV or Freeview HD set top box. Arise News will also be available to YouView, BT Vision and TalkTalk TV homes within this coverage area.
“Today, we reach yet another milestone as we launch on Freeview. Arise News is committed to covering issues of the day and world events that matter from an uncommon perspective,… representing the experiences of the under-served communities often ignored by conventional media,” said Nduka Obaigbena, chairman and editor-in-chief at Arise News.
Arise News broadcasts from hubs in London, New York, Johannesburg and Lagos and employs some 500 journalists. The channel will broadcast using the digital video broadcasting technology MPEG4 DVB-T2.
