Digital revenues drive ProSiebenSat.1 growth
Digital and adjacent revenues boosted German broadcast group ProSiebenSat.1’s performance for the third quarter, with German-speaking market advertising and distribution revenues also turning in modest but respectable levels of growth.
Growth of 27.8% in digital and adjacent segment revenues to €158.7 million meant that this category accounted for a quarter of overall revenues for the quarter.
The strongest growth came from ProSiebenSat.1’s digital commerce business – particularly from a cluster of travel webstes, but digital entertainment also turned in a 23.6% increase in sales.
The group’s content production and global sales segment also grew strongly, delivering a 34.1% year-on-year uplift in turnover to €41.2 million.
German-speaking region broadcast revenues grew by 3.7% to €437.6 million for the quarter, driven by both higher advertising revenues and an increase in distribution revenues.
Overall, the broadcaster’s consolidated revenues for the third quarter grew by 10.5% to €637.5 million, while recurring EBITDA grew by 7.9% to €162.9 million.
“ProSiebenSat.1 is on a very good track financially and strategically. In the third quarter of 2014, we grew profitably in all segments and are aiming for another record year. At the same time, we are developing all areas of our group in a future-oriented way. Thanks to continuous expansion and the linking of our TV business to the digital segment, we have laid an excellent foundation for further growth,” said CEO Thomas Ebeling.
