BT Sport launches red button service
BT Sport has launched a new red button service. The BT Sport Extra service, launched in the UK and Ireland at the weekend, will be on air at certain times to provide additional content alongside that available via BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN.
The service will be available via BT TV, except for those that receive the service via digital-terrestrial TV, and on the Sky Digital platform. The initial red button launch provided live coverage of the French Ligue 1 match between Bordeaux and Evian on Saturday evening.
BT Sport Extra is available via the red button on the remote to Sky Digital viewers and on channel 527 on BT TV. The service will also be launched on Virgin Media’s cable platform in the coming weeks.
Viewers can access the BT Sport website for the BT Sport Extra line-up while customers using BT TV can look ahead using the EPG. Additionally, BT Sport Extra will carry information relating to upcoming events.
“Reach is at the heart of BT Sport and we are continually looking at new ways to enhance our viewers’ experience,” said Simon Green, head of BT Sport. “BT Sport Extra provides sports fans with access to even more live sporting action whether that’s on TV, via the red button, app or online.”
