BBC Worldwide brings Doctor Who to Minecraft on the Xbox
BBC Worldwide has partnered with Microsoft Studios and game developer Mojang to bring Doctor Who-themed characters to the Xbox 360 edition of popular game Minecraft.
From next month, Minecraft players will be able to buy an add-on pack for the game allowing them to change their avatar to resemble their favourite characters from the hit BBC show.
The first pack will be priced at US$2.99/ £1.99/ €2.85 and will include a character inspired by the twelfth Doctor as well as five other Doctors, each of their on-screen companions, and some of the Doctor’s most well known adversaries, including the Daleks. More packs, with more characters, will then follow.
The Minecraft deal follows a previous partnership between the BBC’s commercial arm and Microsoft, which saw Microsoft publish Forza racing games with Top Gear themed challenges and features.
Minecraft is a game centred around about breaking and placing blocks.
