Humax launches low-cost connected HD DVR for Freeview market
Set-top box provider Humax has launched a new lower cost Freeview+ HD DVR set-top for the UK digital-terrestrial market.
The Humax HDR-1800T, priced at £149.99, is available to buy from retailers including John Lewis, Tesco, Currys PC World, Argos, Euronics and a range of independents.
According to the company, the box is the most compact and cost-effective Freeview DVR available. The twin-tuner device includes a 320GB hard drive and connects to home networks. The box also enables users to connect to BBC iPlayer and YouTube via the Humax TV portal when connected to the internet.
New pay TV streaming service VuTV will be available on the device later this summer, offering channels including Nickelodeon and Comedy Central.
“The new style and compact size of the Humax Freeview HDR-1800T makes this new set-top box a discreet yet powerful addition to the living room. It’s ideal for those cost-conscious consumers looking for fantastic HD content and recording abilities, all at an affordable price point,” said Graham North, Humax’s commercial director.
