Hungarian state completes acquisition of Antenna Hungária
The Hungarian state has completed the acquisition of local broadcast services provider Antenna Hungária from France’s TDF.
State communications industry holding company Nemzeti Infokommunikációs Szolgáltató Zártköruen Muködo Részvénytársaság (NISZ) has closed the acquisition of 100% control of Antenna Hungária, which operates the MinDig digital-terrestrial pay TV service in the country as well as providing transmission services, two months after signing the deal with TDF.
The Hungarian administration has adopted a strategy of renationalising businesses it views as of strategic importance, including transmission services.
The transaction means that Antenna Hungária has been renationalised nine years after it was sold.
TDF took the decision to sell the unit last year, a move in line with its strategy of pulling out of activities in central and eastern Europe.
