Deutsche Telekom closes GTS Central Europe acquisition

Deutsche Telekom has closed the acquisition of central European business-to-business service provider GTS Central Europe.

The full operational integration is expected to be completed in the Czech Republic, Poland and the International Business Unit of Deutsche Telekom for October, while legal unity is planned for January 1 next year.

Deutsche Telekom plans to integrate its existing operations in the region with GTS.

Danny Bottoms, CEO of GTS, will continue to head the operation under Deutsche Telekom. In February, the German telco paid €800 million for the 39% of T-Mobile Czech Republic that it did not already own from a consortium led by Mid Europa Partners.

The GTS acquisition supports the implementation of our strategy to strengthen and further develop our B2B local and pan-European business including international Wholesale customers,” said Claudia Nemat, board member Europe and technology at Deutsche Telekom.
