Elemental appoints CFO, runs Japanese 4K encoding trial
Video solutions and delivery firm Elemental Technologies has appointed former Palo Alto Networks’ vice president of finance, John Ewert, as its chief financial officer.
Ewert brings 20 years of experience to the role and has previously worked at Oracle Corporation, Sun Microsystems and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
At the same time, the firm announced that Japanese commercial broadcaster Kansai TV had used Elemental video processing to encode 4K content in HEVC for terrestrial broadcast over ISDB-T to an Ultra HD TV.
The off-air demonstration took place during a 4K educational event hosted by Kansai TV and system integrator CTCSP last week, said Elemental.
In October, Elemental completed what it claimed was the world’s first real-time 4K HEVC transmission when Japanese telco K-Opticom used HEVC processing software from Elemental to deliver a real-time 4K Ultra HD transmission of the Osaka Marathon.
