Canal Digital decline continues for Telenor

Telenor’s Canal Digital satellite pay TV unit saw its subscriber base decline further in the first quarter, contributing to lower revenues of NOK1.128 billion (€137 million) from the unit, down from NOK1.151 million at the end of December. 

Canal Digital had 920,000 customers at the end of the quarter, down 9,000 on December.

Telenor’s fixed line TV base in Norway remained stable quarter-on-quarter at 529,000 with ARPU slipping slightly to NOK276.

In Sweden, the company almost doubled its overall TV base to 521,000, up from 284,000 at the end of December following its acquisition of Tele2’s fibre and cable TV business in the country.
