BT launches smaller YouView+ box
BT has launched a new smaller version of its YouView+ DVR set-top.
The box will be made available free to BT TV customers.
The company said the box has a faster start up time and early trial customers have said that navigating the TV guide and on-demand menus was much smoother than before.
According to BT, the smaller form factor is enabled by the lack of a need for a fan.
The company said that the design of the box aligns with the rest of the BT devices family including the BT Home Hub 4 and Hub 5.
The box has a 500GB hard drive and can store up to 300 hours of SD TV or around 125 hours of HD TV recordings.
Alex Green, director of BT TV, said: “The new YouView+ box from BT has all the functions and features that viewers love about the service, but it’s even better. It’s been a big hit with customers who have already tried it out. They’ve said it is smaller, quieter and faster. The new YouView+ box from BT has been designed in the style of other BT devices, so will look great in any living room.”
