Net Insight signs Russian broadcast deal
Net Insight, a provider of scalable transport solutions for media, IP and broadcast networks, is moving into Russia after tying up a deal with VGTRK, the state owned All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.
VGTRK, which has more than 80 regional TV and radio networks broadcasting in all regions of Russia, will deploy Net Insight’s Nimbra 600 series media switch routers (MSRs) for a contribution network that it is building from the venues of the 2014 Russian Winter Olympics to its Moscow-based studio.
“This is our first, important step into Russia and proves yet again that our smart and scalable transport solution continues to meet the high standards demanded by top broadcasters around the world today,” said Net Insight CEO Fredrik Tumegård.
The deal was agreed through Net Insight’s premium partner OKNO-TV. VGTRK is due to take delivery of the MSRs this month and is aiming for them to be in operation early next year.
