Ukraine’s Volia introduces payment by smartphone

Ukrainian cable operator Volia has introduced payment by smartphone via an agreement with online payment specialists Privat24 and Portmone.com.

Subscribers will be able to use both the Privat24 and Portmone.com systems to pay for their services via Android smartphones. Those using Portmone.com will also be able to pay using iOS and Windows Phone devices.

Payment can be made by customers registered with Volia’s online database by entering account details on either the Portmone.com or Privat24 portals or, in the case of Privat24, by scanning the barcode on their bills.

Separately, to mark Ukrainian independence day on August 24, Volia has announced that it will make all its digital packages, including its HD service, free to view for the day.
