South Africa’s Saffron shuts down

South African DTH operator DStv, owned by MultiChoice, has dropped locally produced channel Saffron from its Indian bouquet after the channel ceased broadcasting.

Saffron was targeted at South Africa’s Indian community with a range of cultural and entertainment programming. However, the Times Media Group-owned channel was forced to close after failing to secure enough advertising support to be economically viable.
