Unitymedia boosts channel lineup

Liberty Global-owned German cable operator Unitymedia is boosting its channel lineup with five new networks, and a sixth to follow later this year. 

The firm added China’s English-language culture, geography and history-themed network CCTV-9 at the end of last month and is adding MTV Brand New, QVC HD, QVC Beauty & Style and SonLife this week.

MTV Brand New is an ad-free music network and replaces MTV Hits!, MTV Music und Liberty TV on the EPG. QVC HD adds a high definition feed of the home-shopping channel, while QVC Beauty & Style focuses on the topics of beauty, wellbeing and fashion. SonLife is an English-language Christian Channel.

Unitymedia, which operates in the Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia regions, said it will also add youth-skewing social TV channel Joiz from September.
