Ofcom chairman to step down
Colette Bowe is to step down as chairman of UK media and telecom regulator Ofcom when her term ends in March 2014.
Bowe has served as Ofcom chairman sicne 2009, when she was appointed for a five-year period. She was previously chairman of Ofcom’s consumer panel.
“I am extremely proud of the fact that Ofcom has served citizens and consumers, and achieved so much while also reducing its cost base. It has been a privilege to chair such a strong board which is absolutely focused on delivering on Ofcom’s priorities,” said Bowe. “Having served a full term, I believe that it is in the best interests of Ofcom if I make it clear now that my term as chairman is fixed and will end in March 2014. This is important for the independence of Ofcom and its board.”
