YouView launches Android app

YouView has launched an Android app that includes a full programme guide and remote record settings. 

The app joins YouView’s already-available iOS app, which was last updated in April to include series record settings and ‘now and next’ programming schedules – both of which are included in the Android app.

The free Android app, which is available to download from the Google Play store, has a seven day TV guide, channel list, programme information, now and next programme information and remote recording so users can set programmes to record when they are not at home.

It can also connect up to five Android or iOS devices with a users’ YouView box so that an entire family can use the YouView remote record service.

YouView said that “most Android 2.3+ devices” will support the app, which has also been optimised for the Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S2, LG Nexus 4, HTC One S and Samsung Galaxy Ace.
