Czech publisher buys Metropol TV

Czech publisher Mlada Fronta has moved into the broadcasting space by acquiring regional Czech television network Metropol TV.

Mlada Fronta – which owns and publishes lifestyle and a range of professional magazine titles, fiction books, websites and has medical services division – said it would continue Metropol’s focus on news, current affairs and docs.

The company said it would maintain the network’s current schedule but has also started producing new programmes.

Metropol TV broadcasts in Prague and covers 65% of the Czech Republic’s central region, claiming to reach an audience of some 2.15 million people.
