Schramek named as new CSA chief
French president François Hollande has named Olivier Schramek as the new president of media regulator the CSA to replace outgoing chief Michel Boyon.
Schramek was chief of staff to Lionel Jospin when the latter was minister of education in the late ‘80s and again when he became prime minister in 1997. The government has refuted any suggestion that the appointment of Schramek was a partisan political one.
Two other members of the CSA have also been named. Sylvie Pierre-Brossolette, deputy editorial director of Le Point magazine and France 3 journalist Memona Hintermann-Affejee were nominated by the presidents of the National Assembly and Senate respectively to replace Alain Méar and Rachid Arhab.
