Sky Deutschland continues to impress
Sky Deutschland continued its run of strong results in the third quarter, with increased subscriber numbers and EBITDA.
The pay TV operator signed-up 80,000 new customers in the three months ending September 30, taking its total base to 3.2 million. Sky’s Premium HD subscriber numbers reached 1.3 million at the end of September, up 63% year-on-year, while the Sky Plus DVR service was taken by 730,000 subs, up 240% year-on-year.
The operator is also seeing success with its online and on-demand services. The number of views for its Sky Go service has increased 367% year-on-year to 8.2 million in the quarter.
EBITDA for the quarter increased to €18.6 million, compared with negative €18.6 million for the same period last year.
Brian Sullivan, CEO of Sky Deutschland, said, “The quarter saw another strong set of financial and operating results, including our second straight positive EBITDA delivery and a marked acceleration in our multi-product penetration. We also passed another important milestone with more than two million Sky households now watching our excellent Sky Welt HD channels. In addition, our enhanced coverage of the new Bundesliga, Champions and Europa League competitions, as well as the launch of even more HD channels have all meant an even better product and greater value for customers, which is especially important in these uncertain economic times. There has never been a better time to be a Sky customer.”
