Canis Media adds new channels for Manchester
The UK’s Canis Media has launched new channels on the Freeview platform in Manchester. The Manchester Television Network (MTN) platform, which Canis launched this month, currently reaches 1.2 million homes in the Manchester area and will ultimately comprise six channels.
Canis Media has added Sony Pictures Television Networks’ Movies4Men and Movies4Men+1 and shopping cannel Argos TV to the network, which uses spectrum freed up by the closure of Channel M and some spectrum made available on switchover. Further channels to launch in November include a music channel and an Asian channel, according to the company.
Ed Hall, CEO of Canis Media, said: “Our experience of launching the Manchester Television Network demonstrates that broadcasters are keen to reach target audiences through local services and shows how buoyant local television broadcasting is. We’re looking forward to the further expansion of Freeview in Manchester and we’re sure that viewers in the area will enjoy the extra content on offer.”
