MTG uses Envivio to bring Viaplay to set-tops

Modern Times Group has selected technology company Envivio’s Muse software-based encoding solutions to extend its Viaplay OTT service to set-top boxes.

Viaplay is using Envivio Muse Live software-based encoders on the 4Caster C4 Gen III platform to extend streaming of live channels to IP set-top-boxes.

The Viaplay online platform for the Nordic market launched as a PC-based service but is now available on TVs via the Viaplay Box streaming set-top.

“We constantly strive to develop our service, and offering Viaplay on streaming set-top boxes is part of our strategy to ensure that the widest possible audience is able to access our content, in the most convenient way,” said Niclas Ekdahl, CEO of Viaplay.
