Russian set-top market continues strong growth

Set-top boxes sold in Russia amounted to 3.95 million last year and will likely reach 5.15 million this year, according to figures compiled by J’Son & Partners.

Russian suppliers dominate the market. General Satellite, which supplies pay TV leader Tricolor TV, remains the leading supplier of set-tops and satellite continues to dominate the set-top market, followed by IPTV, where the leading supplier is SmartLabs (InLine), a major supplier to leading telco Rostelecom. Digital-terrestrial box sales are expected to grow to one million next year.
