Sky secures near simultaneous release of The Newsroom

Pay TV operator Sky Deutschland is to make the new HBO series The Newsroom available to its subscribers almost simultaneously with the series’ US debut. BSkyB in the UK will also make the series available immediately after its US launch.

Sky Deutschland will make the English-language version of the show available via the web, iPad or as a DVR download soon after its US launch, in an effort to combat piracy. The German-language version of the show will air on Sky in the autumn.
