UPC Austria teams up with G4S for home security

Cable operator UPC Austria has teamed up security technology specialist G4S to offer a home alarm service.

UPC is allowing customer to use its network to connect to the G4S alarm service and providing two phone numbers for users to call as well as self-defined passwords to use in the case of false alarms.

The service is being made available from €9.90 a month, initially in Vienna. A premium service for €19.90 provides additional features including regular line-monitoring. Customers must also pay €399 for the equipment, which includes wireless motion detectors, and €249 for installation.
