Telenet boosts triple-play base but sees customer total decline
Belgian cable operator Telenet added 27,700 triple-play customers in the first quarter, taking its triple-play base to 805,800 or 37% of its overall customer base.
Telenet said it had added 88,000 net new subscribers to its digital TV, broadband and fixed telephony base, including transfers from analogue. The company now has 2.18 million customers, down from 2.25 million a year ago due to the loss of 73,000 basic cable subscribers. The company attributed these losses to intense competition in the market.
Telenet posted revenue of €364 million for the quarter up 10%. Adjusted EBITDA was €192.6 million, up 11%.
Telenet’s customers take a total of 4.4 million services, including 1.4 million digital TV customers, 1.3 million broadband customers and 0.9 million telephony customers. The company also had about 250,000 mobile customers.
ARPU reached €44.80 in the first three months, up 10% year-on-year.
