Netflix launches on Windows Phone in the UK and Ireland
Netflix has launched its service in the UK, Ireland and Latin America on the Windows Phone platform.
Netflix released an updated, international version of its existing US app for Windows Phone, which it said would significantly increase the number of mobile devices supported by Netflix in its international markets.
Netflix is available on all Windows Phone devices, including those manufactured by HTC, LG, Nokia and Samsung. Windows Phone users can download the free Netflix app from the Windows Phone Marketplace.
“With Netflix for Windows Phone, users in the UK, Ireland and Latin America can now enjoy TV programmes and films on the go,” said Greg Peters, vice-president of product development at Netflix in a statement. “Existing Netflix members in the UK, Ireland and Latin America now have greater flexibility than ever in enjoying Netflix wherever and whenever they want.”
Within the last few days, Netflix has also updated its service for the Xbox 360 games console, providing skip forward/back functionality during play, zoom functionality to make letterboxed video content fill a full screen and the ability to share TV shows and movies via Facebook.
