KIT Digital brings RTÉ Player to connected devices

Cloud based TV software company KIT Digital has developed Irish broadcaster RTÉ’s RTÉ Player app for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

RTÉ is using KIT Digital’s Connected Device Framework and software platform to offer its programming on mobile and connected devices.
Available worldwide, the app enables iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch users to stream RTÉ programming for up to 21 days after transmission using a WiFi or 3G network. Users can also watch selected live shows from RTÉ One, RTÉ Two and RTÉ News Now.

“The response to the RTÉ Player has been fantastic, demonstrating the benefit of matching great programming with the latest technology. The app has already been downloaded 200,000 times and 18% of all RTÉ Player streams are now delivered via iOS,” said Frances Jarvis, KIT Digital’s regional managing director for EMEA. “As KIT digital’s first Connected Device Framework deployment for RTÉ, we are extremely pleased to see consumers not just downloading the app but using it regularly.
