Google files for video franchise licence for Kansas City
Google has moved a step closer to realising its TV ambitions by filing an application for a video franchise licence with the Missouri Public Service Commission in the US, allowing it to deliver content to TVs in Kansas City, where the internet search giant is building a fibre-to-the-home network.
Google has said no firm plans have been set yet. The company has also unveiled plans to build a satellite dish farm near its data centre in Iowa that would enable it to receive broadcast TV feeds and retransmit them to its network.
