Melita Cable hails VOD usage

Subscribers to Malta’s Melita Cable have used the operator’s video-on-demand service over 250,000 times since its launch four months ago, according to SeaChange International-owned On Demand Group, which supplies the service.

OnDemand! Club is available at no extra cost as part of Melita’s Entertainment Pack which also includes FibrePower broadband and unlimited local fixed line telephony. MovieRentals is a pay-per-rental service with movies rented for 48 hours starting from €1.49 each.

“The success of OnDemand! is extremely encouraging,” said Ivor Micallef, TV product manager at Melita. “The beta testing period helped us to learn a lot about user experience and content preferences. Customers are finding it extremely simple to use and of course convenient. While content is updated on a weekly basis we are now looking at adding more content houses, which will boost our content selection. Amongst the new OnDemand! series, customers can already enjoy Mad Men and Friends and will shortly include top comedy series like One Tree Hill and Big Bang Theory amongst others.”
