Red Bee metadata on the Horizon

Broadcast services provider Red Bee Media has been selected by UPC Broadband, Liberty Global’s European cable division, to provide rich metadata for its next-generation TV platform Horizon.

Red Bee will create and deliver rich metadata services for the Horizon platform, which is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2012 in the Netherlands. In addition, UPC Broadband has commissioned Red Bee to supply metadata for their existing digital TV platforms in the Netherlands, Ireland and Switzerland.

“Metadata is critical to the success of any TV platform, and Horizon is no exception. We are pleased to be working with Red Bee Media to deliver advanced metadata to our platforms”, said Andrew Kearney, UPC Broadband’s vice-president TV products.
