LG signs Rovi DivX licensing deal



Digital TV technology company Rovi and consumer electronics outfit LG Electronics have signed licensing agreements to provide further integration of DivX video format technology into a wider range of devices.


The agreement with Rovi enables LG to implement DivX Plus HD, the premium level of certification available, and will add to the more than half a billion home and mobile consumer electronics devices that have shipped with DivX technology. The newly DivX Plus HD Certified devices can play back
DivX.MKV files up to 1080p and previous versions of DivX video.
