Boxee names European business development chief

Over-the-top service provider Boxee has named Wil Stephens as its new head of business development and marketing for Europe.

Stephens, founder of Cube Interactive, will be charged with bringing European content to the platform. Boxee plans to run an event to promote its service in London on June 7, and the company said it planned to make further hires in its London office.

“Wil shall be heading up our business development and marketing efforts in Europe, and has already been making the rounds at events like MIP TV to help bring more European content onto the platform. His expertise in digital media from running Cube – a company he founded – made him a logical fit as we look to become the dominant software provider for set top boxes in Europe,” said Andrew Kippen, vice-president of marketing at Boxee.
