Former Channel 5 exec to head Arqiva’s YouView push

TV infrastructure company Arqiva has appointed Charles Constable as managing director of a newly created Digital Platforms division.

Constable, former strategy director at Channel 5, will be responsible for Arqiva’s TV multiplex business and its participation in the YouView consortium, the UK’s forthcoming connected-TV platform.

John Cresswell, CEO of Arqiva, said: “We are delighted to welcome Charles to Arqiva at this significant point in the development of the business. Driven by wider consumer choice and new delivery platforms, the broadcast industry is undergoing a profound transformation. Arqiva has a significant role to play in this transformation and the growth potential it presents is enormous. The time is right to re-align the business and strengthen the executive management team to help us shape and realise these opportunities.”

As part of a management team restructuring, Steve Holebrook, previously MD for government, mobile and enterprise at Arqiva, will become MD of the company’s broadcast and media business, focusing on Arqiva’s satellite, terrestrial TV and radio transmission operations.
