Kabel BW to offer Sky’s 3D service

German cable operator Kabel BW is offering pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland’s new 3D service as well as it Sky Sports HD 2 channel, and has announced a planned significant ramp-up of its HD service.

The latest additions mean that Kabel BW is offering 21 HD channels, and it plans to expand its My HD TV package later this year.

Kabel BW is the first cable operator to offer the Sky 3D event channel, which kicked off last weekend with coverage of the golf Ryder Cup.

Separately, Spanish pay-TV group Canal Plus España is to offer what it says is Spain’s first live 3D basketball game on Thursday, with coverage of the game in Barcelona between the Los Angeles Lakers and Barcelona.

The 3D version of the game will be available to viewers with an iPlus decoder and 3D TV and will also be available in a number of cinemas.
