Belgium’s Mobistar to launch hybrid TV service

France Telecom-owned Belgian mobile and fixed telecom operator Mobistar is to launch a hybrid TV service in October.

Mobistar TV will be delivered via a hybrid decoder that can pick up signals delivered via satellite and digital-terrestrial TV as well as IPTV via Mobistar’s own fixed-line network. About 500 channels, including HD services, will be available via satellite, while video-on-demand and an EPG will be available via IPTV.

Additional services will include the ability to book recordings and view programmes via mobile phones and other screens. The set-top to be deployed will include a 320GB hard drive, and the TV service will be offered as part of an overall quad-play offer.
