Viaccess launches new smartcard

Conditional access company Viaccess has launched a new smartcart, PC5, designed to fight the latest forms of piracy, including Control Word sharing piracy, regardless of the distribution network.

The new PC5 smart card introduces over the air renewability of the CW protection system on trusted set-top boxes. It also has embedded renewability against pay-TV threats, including a card loader, says Viaccess.
