Israel’s Hot swings to loss, reports fall in TV subs

Israeli MSO Hot has reported a loss in its second quarter and saw its TV subscriber base continue to fall.

The cabler reported a net loss of NIS49m (€11m) for the period compared with a NIS23m profit in the same quarter a year ago. Revenue, however, climbed to NIS809 million in the quarter from NIS775m in the second quarter of 2009. TV revenue was NIS554m compared with NIS547m in the second quarter of 2009.

The TV subscriber base at end-June was 892,000 compared with a total of 913,000 at the same point last year. Meanwhile, the company added internet and telephony customers. Internet subs at end-June stood at 733,000 compared with 698,000 at end June 2009. Telephony subs were up 65,000 year-on-year, taking the total to 584,000.
