Teacher’s TV to move exclusively online

UK free-to-air channel Teacher’s TV will move exclusively online at the end of August after the government axed its carriage deals.

The channel, which is government funded and operated by Education Digital, a consortium between Brook Lapping Productions, ITV and the Institute of Education, was previously available via digital terrestrial television, satellite platform Sky and cabler Virgin Media. However, former secretary of state for children, schools and families Ed Balls made the decision in March to axe its carriage deals in order to save it £10m (€12m) per year. The website currently has over 370,000 registered users and will continue to air a mix of educational programming, teaching guides and international documentaries.
