UPC provides details about multimedia gateway

Cable operator UPC provided details about its new integrated multimedia home gateway and set-top box at a media conference in Hilversum, the Netherlands last week.

The box, to be manufactured by Samsung, will be based on Intel’s Atom processor and is scheduled to be delivered sometime in the first half of 2011. The platform is designed to deliver over-the-top content from the internet as part of the TV experience.
