Italian ISP launch Rome “open FTTH” pilot

Italian service providers Fastweb, Wind and Vodafone have launched a pilot of their proposed open fibre network in the Fleming area of Rome.

The Fleming point-to-point fibre-to-the-home project connects 7,400 households in 525 residential buildings. A second phase could see the network extended to 50% of the country’s population, requiring an estimated total investment of €8.5bn.
