Danish kids watching more TV but kids channels’ share slides

Consumption of TV by 3-12 year-olds in Denmark has risen by about 40% since 2005, according to cable operator YouSee. However the share taken by channels specifically aimed at children has declined as a proportion of the whole in favour of viewing of channels aimed at other age groups.

Overall consumption of TV by Danes has also increased – to an average of three hours seven minutes a day in 2009. Kids channels account for 44% of viewing by 3-12 year-olds, down from 48% in 2007. Public broadcaster DR’s launch of DR Ramasjang last year took the number of dedicated kids channels in the Danish market to 10.
