TF1 rejects M6’s World Cup offer

TF1 has rejected a bid for some of its World Cup soccer TV rights from its rival free-to-air broadcaster M6, according to local press. M6 boss Nicolas de Tavernost said it had made the offer to acquire selected rights but been turned down. His counterpart at TF1 noted that other rival broadcasters had submitted more attractive bids.

In February TF1 said it had sub-licensed the rights to 37 of the 64 World Cup games to two of its rivals, French public broadcaster France Televisions and premium pay TV channel Canal Plus.
