Spain’s R posts solid 2009 growth

Spanish regional cable operator R achieved revenue growth of 8% for 2009, despite tough market conditions, taking its revenues for the year to €209.4m.

R, which operates in the Galicia region, posted EBITDA of €93m, and a net profit of €22.88m.

The operator invested €723m in a new fibre network during the year. The company currently makes 100Mbps broadband services available in 60% of those areas where its fibre network has been built out.

R served approximately 250,000 customers at the end of 2009, with about 600,000 RGUs. About 44% of homes take digital TV services. R also reported it had 60,000 mobile phone customers at the end of the period.
