Grass Valley encoders for Telefónica

Telefónica is installing new standard-definition encoders from Grass Valley at its IPTV headend.

Grass Valley is supplying its new ViBE EM2000 MPEG encoders, based on its own Mustang chipset, to the Spanish telco. According to Grass Valley, the encoders will reduce the bandwidth required to deliver IPTV services, allowing Telefónica to deliver a more robust signal on longer last-mile circuits and thus increasing the reach of its service.
