Mid Europa Partners acquires Hungary’s Invitel

Private-equity group Mid Europa Partners has acquired a majority stake in Hungarian triple-play provider Invitel from Danish telco TDC.

The deal gives Mid Europa a 64.6% controlling stake in the Hungarian service provider, which was formerly knows as Hungarian Telephone and Cable Corp. Invitel, which offers IPTV services under the InviTV brand and has over one million customers in Hungary, reported revenues of US$555m (€380m) in 2008.

Mid Europa Partners also owns Serbian cable and pay-TV provider SBB and formerly UPC-owned Slovenian operator Telemach.
