Canal Plus boosts Vivendi’s first-half financials

French pay-TV provider Canal Plus boosted Vivendi’s bottom line for the first half of the year.

Canal Plus Group revenue for the first half remained broadly flat at €2.254bn, up 0.2% year-on-year. EBITA for the first half was €472m, up 34.5% year-on-year.

Vivendi-owned telco SFR turned in revenues of €6.14bn, up 16.1%, with an improved market share. EBITA was €1.296bn, down 3.3%. Vivendi itself turned in revenues of €13.178bn, up 17%, while EBITA stood at €2.899bn, up 12.9%.

Digital platform CanalSat added 94,000 subscribers in the year to June 30, an improvement on the 75,000 added in the year to March 31. Canal Plus ugraded 240,000 to digital services in the first half of the year. Canal Plus Poland added 290,000 in the year to June 30.
