France’s digital channels take greater share of ad sales

France’s digital channels, including pay-TV channels, turned in €1.084bn worth of advertising turnover in the first six months of this year, up 29.1% year-on-year.

Free-to-air digital-terrestrial channels were responsible for €695.2m of ad revenue, an increase of 64.6% year-on-year, according to figures released by TV advertising trade body the SNPTV. The figure represented 19% of the TV advertising total.

France’s six main national channels, on the other hand, turned in €2.564bn of ad revenues for the first half, of which private channels TF1, Canal Plus and M6 were responsible for €2.345bn, down 7.2% year-on-year.
