Numericable signs up low-income households

French cable operator Numericable has signed up 20,000 households to its new offer for low-income households since the initiative was launched in March.

Numericable has been offering its Service Unique Numérique (SUN) offer, which currently costs €4 a month, since 2007, but upgraded it in March to include 2Mbps internet access and a full line-up of channels available on digital-terrestrial TV. It also teamed up with eco-efficiency body EFFINEO to provide real-time access to information about electricity, water and gas consumption and advice about how to save money on these as part of the service.

The latest additions take the total number of households signed up to SUN to 161,000.
