BSkyB launches ‘bookable’ advertising

UK pay-TV provider BSkyB is launching ‘bookable’ advertising via the green button on subscribers’ remote controls.

BSkyB has struck a raft of advertising deals that see it expand online advertising on its web video service as well as long form advertising on its TV platform.

The new long form service will allow subscribers to view extended advertising content by ‘booking’ ads into their Sky Guide or by recording content direct to their set-top boxes. Sky said that Warner Brothers, McMillan Cancer Support, T-Mobile and Fox had signed up as launch advertisers for the service.

The company is expected to launch extended ads and trailers for movies from June including Warner Bros’ latest Harry Potter movie.
