UPC Switzerland unveils MySports offering
Liberty Global-owned UPC Switzerland’s new MySports service is now open for customer orders ahead of its launch on September 8.
Customers of UPC and 15 other distribution partners can now order the premium version of the service, MySports Pro, which will be available for CHF25 (€23) a month via cable.
The basic version of the service, MySports D/MySports F, will be available to all UPC customers at no extra cost.
MySports Pro will offer a range of premium channels including Sky Sport Bundesliga 1 and Eurosport 1 and 2 HD. Other channels on the service include Sports 1 US HD and Motorvision TV which, together with together with Eurosport 1 and 2 HD will be available immediately in a free-to-view window until the paid service starts in September. At that point, day tickets will be available for CHF9 in addition to the CHF25 monthly fee.
Premium subs will be able to view Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga matches from July 28 ahead of the official launch of the service.
MySports will use its exclusive rights to Swiss ice-hockey as its anchor content. The service will also offer German Bundesliga football from Sky, Portugal’s Liga NOS and top-tier equestrian sports through a deal with the Fédération Equestre Internationale.
The service will additionally air coverage of international handball, beach volleyball, basketball and motor sports.
UPC pointed out that its customers also have the option of signing up for Teleclub Sport, the rival service backed by Swisscom, which offers games from the Swiss Football League and Italy’s Serie A.
“I’m very happy that we will soon be able to offer our sports-mad customers attractive live sport in the comfort of their own living rooms with MySports Pro. With the exclusive rights to Swiss ice hockey and the Sky broadcasts of the Bundesliga, we have two major draws. For ice hockey fans, we will also be exclusively offering the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). And thanks to Steffi Buchli and her team, MySports will inspire sports fans with fresh, new formats,” said UPC Central Europe CEO Eric Tveter.
